Join others to explore an interesting, important, and maybe, challenging topic. Connect in an open and authentic way by sharing differing ideas and perspectives; leave with expanded insights and new understandings.
Intimacy – a shared, close feeling between people, which can be emotional, social (based on shared experiences) and/or physical (eg, touching, cuddling, sexual activity). Unfortunately, many myths and stereotypes work against older adults and challenge even if the expression of intimacy or sexuality in later life is appropriate. How do these myths limit us? Despite studies reporting that older adults can be intimate, even sexually active into later life, society still continues to devalue these aspects of older life. The session will begin as co-ed and then men and women will breakout into different groups for a more intimate discussion. Join Paula Love and James Sokol in an inquiry about these myths and discuss how we can redefine Intimacy in Later Life.
