Join guitarist Lyle Sheffler and instructor James Sokol for a beautiful, educational concert featuring gorgeous music by Johann Sebastian Bach, Heitor Villa-Lobos, Isaac Albéniz and others played on the acoustic guitar!
Lyle and James will offer insights into the music to be performed. Then, sit back and enjoy the live performance of the selected masterworks.

About Lyle Sheffler
International guitar soloist Lyle Sheffler began playing classical guitar at the age of seven and made his first public appearance at the age of eight. Acclaimed for his artistry, warm tone, and captivating programs, Lyle has played at such esteemed venues as Carnegie Hall, Freight & Salvage Stadium, the Tilles Center, the Hanoi Opera House, as well as numerous other concert halls around the globe.
In addition to playing solo recitals and as a concerto soloist with orchestras, Lyle has performed in the prestigious Ile de Ré International Guitar Festival in France, in the Iserlohn Classical Guitar Festival in Germany and in the Polish Guitar Academy in Poznan, Poland to name but a few career highlights.
As a performer, Lyle has become an integral part of the San Francisco music community, both as a soloist and as a chamber musician. Besides classical guitar, Lyle is proficient on double bass, mandolin, bouzouki, banjo, and lute.
He has released a digital solo album entitled, Lyle Sheffler-Classical Guitar.
About James Sokol
James Sokol, MA, MBA, worked in opera for over two decades, having started his career under Beverly Sills at NYC Opera. He worked and lectured for San Francisco Opera and is a former executive director of Pocket Opera. A Founding Member of The Singers Development Foundation, James has also worked on projects with Cincinnati Opera and the Opera Company of Philadelphia.
James teaches opera and musical-theater appreciation classes throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and to guests worldwide as part of online programs for an array of organizations. He is the Director of the National JCC Adult & Senior Alliance and the Kurland Center for Adult Learning & Living at the Osher Marin JCC. He leads in-person, cultural arts trips to destinations around the world.
