THE ASTONISHING SECRET OF AWESOME MAN is the first picture book written by Pulitzer Prize and Hugo Award-winning novelist Michael Chabon, and illustrated by Jake Parker (Balzer + Bray, a division of HarperCollins; Ages 4-8; $17.99; on sale Sept 6, 2011).

Based on Chabonís experiences with his own son, THE ASTONISHING SECRET OF AWESOME MAN perfectly captures the fantasy life of young superhero fans.

Awesome Man has a cape as red as a rocket, a mask as black as midnight, a styliní letter ďAĒ on his chest, and a trusty sidekick, Moskowitz the Awesome Dog. He can shoot positronic rays out of his eyeballs, use his trademark Awesome Power Grip to stop runaway freight trains and can hug mutant talking Jell-O from Beyond the Stars.

But the most awesome thing about Awesome Man isÖhis secret. Careful readers will pick up on illustrated clues throughout the book, leading to the discovery of Awesome Manís super-secret identity.
