108 Bells Ceremony

Date: Wed, January 3, 2018
Time: 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm
Location: Urban Adamah • 1151 6th Street • Berkeley, CA 94710
Hosted by: Urban Adamah

Join us on the farm as we celebrate one of the biggest Buddhist ceremonies of the year: Joya no Kane, or the Tolling of Temple Bells. According to Buddhist tradition, ringing the bells 108 times rids us of the 108 delusions that we suffer on earth and purifies us for the upcoming year.

Come for a formal Rinzai Zen evening service followed by a brief Qigong practice and then the 108 bells meditation. After the ceremony we will be serving tea and refreshments.

Registration is free, but please RSVP in advance.
Facilitators: Choan and Bodhi are ordained priests of the Hollow Bones an American Rinzai Zen School.
Choan Tim Cook is a bodhisattva of no rank. His spiritual practice includes Qigong embodiment, Zazen meditation and the Mondo Zen Koan process. However innumerable all beings are, I vow to serve and liberate them all.
Bodhi William Prince has been practicing Mondo Zen since September 2008, enabling him to access this deepest state of pure being. From here, deep knowing, clarity and gratitude exist below the complexity of his everyday life.
