Blue & Red: Understanding the Politics of Others
Join others to explore an interesting, important, and maybe, challenging topic. Connect in an open and authentic way by sharing differing ideas and perspectives; leave with expanded insights and new understandings.
Today’s topic focuses on understanding the beliefs and politics of others, with an emphasis on listening and reflecting rather than debating and persuading.
Recent political events have created a climate of anxiety, irritation and dissension among Americans. The divide between opposing perspectives may be wider than ever. Let’s try to lessen this divide by truly understanding, if not agreeing with, people who have a different viewpoint than our own.
Goals for this discussion include having equal numbers of active participants representing liberal and conservative views, who are interested in understanding others’ thoughts, rather than convincing of their own. All viewpoints are to be respected.
When registering, please indicate if you bring a “blue” (liberal- progressive leaning) or “red” (conservative) perspective to the event.
Register soon as participation is strictly limited.
