Don’t miss this 7-night river cruise aboard the luxurious, new, “game-changing” AMAMagna to journey along the Danube and see firsthand why this storied river has inspired generations of artists, poets and musicians. Marvel at timeless architecture and art in three magnificent capitals: Budapest, Bratislava and Vienna. Enjoy charming towns and villages. Let the hills come alive with the sounds of music in Salzburg and the Austrian Lake District. Cruise through the enchanting Strudengau Valley and let the melodies of the Danube carry you from one gem to another on a regal journey through time.

Set sail in the luxury aboard AmaWaterways’ newest state-of-the-art ship, the AmaMagna, which represents a new concept specifically designed to elevate river cruising to a new level. This magnificent ship offers larger staterooms equivalent in size to many ocean-going vessels. The AmaMagna is an evolution of an already spectacular river fleet, offering more onboard activities, generous personal space, additional dining options and enhanced evening entertainment.

While docked, stroll the charming towns on your own or join in wonderful excursions to marvel at the culture, history, charm of each destination. Depending on the timing of excursions, join others in our group for our Optional Eats – an optional, no-host refreshment and/or meal in selected ports.  For example, lunch in a beautiful restaurant in Budapest with a spectacular view of the Danube and the Castle District; Stop for pastry/coffee at a famous cafe in Vienna; etc.

When the ship’s itinerary will allow, join others in our group for a no-host performance in a local theater. Whether orchestra, chamber ensemble, opera, ballet or modern dance, attending a performance in one of the beautiful theaters – often, little jewel boxes! – can be a thrilling experience. Details of performances to be confirmed.

Water – a source of life – has inspired artists of all types.  What better time, than when cruising on a most famous river, to dive (pun intended!) into the theme of “water in music?”  Attend Exploring Music: Water in Sounds & Lyrics lectures – created especially for this cruise!  James Sokol navigates (yep, another pun intended!) listeners through a wide range of repertoire – from classical and opera to pop and musical theater – inspired by water!

In addition, join our Captain for a private visit to the ship’s wheelhouse. Learn from the master how the ship works, the challenges of river navigation, and see first-hand this interesting control center.
