About this event
Join us for a pre-Shavuot scenic and scrumptious coastal California culinary adventure. In honor of Shavuot – the Jewish holiday commemorating the receiving of the Torah, we will visit Marshall, Marin County’s very own “land of Milk and Honey.”
The historic Hay Barn at the Straus Home Ranch located in the small town of Marshall on the West Marin Coast will serve as our idyllic setting. Members of the Straus family will give a presentation about the Jewish history of their family’s journey from Nazi Germany to West Marin, the creation of the Straus Dairy Farm and Creamery, the first certified organic dairy farm west of the Mississippi, as well as the establishment of MALT (Marin Agricultural Land Trust), the first land trust in the country. Following that, a Cheese School of San Francisco instructor will lead us through a California Cheese class, where you will learn how to taste, pair, and enjoy a selection of some of the best cheeses Northern California has to offer.
We will meet at the Straus Home Ranch at 11:15 AM and be joined by friends from the Peninsula JCC in Foster City. Transportation is not provided. Directions will be sent out the day prior to the event.
Please contact Jessica Rosenberg at jrosenberg@marinjcc.org with any questions.
