In this interactive workshop our focus will be on several contemporary and historical Jewish women who have led inspirational lives; they are women we can honor, respect and from whom we have much to learn. Using their herstories, their upbringing, their challenges and struggles we will look at the impact that they had in the larger society, including politics, economics and social justice. Our discussion will include Inspiring women such as Rose Schneiderman, Pauline Newman, Rose Pesotta, Hannah Senesh, Golda Meir, Hedy Lamar, and Carole King.

Elaine Leeder is a retired professor and dean at Sonoma State University. She has 47 years of experience teaching undergraduates, elders and people in prison. She has written six books, one of which she will speak about during our talk. Leeder is a lively and engaging speaker who has taught a number of courses at Osher Marin JCC.
