The partnership of playwright & lyricist W.S. Gilbert and composer Arthur Sullivan created some of the world’s most delightful and tuneful operettas. “After the first unauthorized version of their HMS Pinafore premiered in the United States in 1878, the craze known as ‘Pinafore-Mania’ quickly swept the nation.” Their works went on to greatly influence the development of musical theatre. And, Broadway’s 1981 production of The Pirates of Penzance proved to be record-breaking.
Join Broadway diva Kimilee Bryant for a live, performance tribute of songs by this creatively tuneful team who brought so many clever and delightful tunes to the stage. The tribute also includes interesting insights.

About Kimilee Bryant
South Carolina native Kimilee Bryant has performed the role of “Christine Daae” in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway, in Switzerland, in Toronto and to critical acclaim on the U.S. National Tour. She has also taken a turn as the diva, “La Carlotta” on Broadway and the National Tour. She is the only former “Christine” to return to Broadway and play all three leadings roles — Christine, Carlotta, and Madame Giry (obviously, not all at once) in Phantom.
In The Pirate Queen on Broadway, she covered the role of Queen Elizabeth I. Other NYC credits include Josephine/H.M.S. Pinafore, Mabel/ The Pirates of Penzance, Casilda/The Gondoliers, Ida/Princess Ida, and Bye, Bye Birdie at NY City Center; Elsie/The Yeomen of the Guard, Phyllis/ Iolanthe, and Aline/The Sorcerer at Symphony Space. She debuted at Lincoln Center as soloist for The National Chorale at Avery Fisher Hall and appeared as soloist in a staged production of Handel’s Messiah, which was also performed at The Utrecht Early Music Festival in Holland.
Among the numerous accolades received by Kimilee, Anthony Tommasini (The New York Times) raved, ““Kimilee Bryant brought a plush soprano voice and lovely presence to the title role” .
