Argentine Jewish Artists

Thursday, June 9

11am-12:30pm (PT), 12-1:30pm (MT), 1-2:30pm (CT), 2-3:30pm (ET)

on Zoom

The Argentine Jewish community is the largest in Latin America and one of the largest in the world. Most of the Jewish immigrants strove to become Argentine citizens and give their children the best education. Many attended universities and graduated as doctors, lawyers, teachers, engineers…and there were also many artists.

Join our professional guide and lecturer Claudia – who created a sensation with her lecture on Art & Anti-Semitism in February – to learn about some of these artists, Jewish immigrants and their descendants: significant Jewish painters, sculptors, photographers of the 20th and 21st centuries. Visual artists. Women and men who started artistic movements and/or whose works have been internationally recognized.

Review their work, their life stories, and find out about their techniques, their ideas, their main subjects and their compromise with Argentine society, with Human Rights and with their Jewish roots.

Save! Register by June 7th for “Early Bird” pricing!

About Claudia

Our wonderful Argentinian guide & lecturer – Claudia – is not only a translator but also a sculptor and painter, whose main subjects are Memory and Uprooting, in honor of her four grandparents who emigrated from Poland to Argentina in the ´30s.

Claudia was born and raised in Buenos Aires in the Argentinian Jewish community. Twenty years ago, she became bored of translating books with a computer as her only company, so she decided to study tourism and history. She has been conducting city, art and Jewish tours ever since, and enjoying every single moment of it.
