Ricardo Lemvo and Makina Loca – A Summer Nights Concert at the Marin JCC

Join us for a family-friendly, multi-cultural night of great music, food and dancing as Summer Nights returns to  Osher Marin JCC’s large outdoor field set beside Marin’s beautiful nature and open space preserve. 

Ricardo Lemvo has established himself as a music pioneer with his innovative blend of vibrant Afro-Cuban and Pan-African music. Los Angeles Times described Lemvo’s irresistible fusion of Congolese rumba, soukous, Cuban son, salsa, kizomba, and semba as “seamless and infectious.” Lemvo is the embodiment of the Afro-Latin Diaspora which connects back to Mother Africa via the Cuban clave rhythm. He is truly multi-cultural and equally at home singing in Spanish, Portuguese, Kimbundu, Turkish, Lingala, and Kikongo. Since forming his Los Angeles-based band Makina Loca in 1990, Lemvo has refined his craft and vision, raising his joyous voice with strength to sing songs that celebrate life, and most importantly, inspire his audiences to let loose and dance away their worries. 

Doors open at 5:00 pm. Pop-up food vendors, concessions, beer, wine, canned cocktails, and soft drinks will be available for purchase. Start the evening with free Salsa lessons at at 6:30 pm then show off your skills on the field, or just sit back, breathe in the fresh air, and enjoy the party atmosphere! Timing and event additional information: 

Doors open: 5:00 pm, food and drink will be available 

Pre-event Salsa dance class: 6:30 pm – 7:15 pm, presented by Salsa Marin Dance Academy

Show starts: 7:30 pm 

Tickets: $30 with a $3.95 Eventbrite per ticket service fee. Kids 12 and under are FREE and will not need a ticket. 

Seating: Seating will be general admission and on the turf. You may bring picnic or lawn blankets, low back chairs or padded stadium chairs. Camping or oversized chairs are not permitted. There will be preferred seating access for guests with disabilities. We recommend bringing a sweater or jacket as it can get cool at night. 

Food/Drink: Pop-up food vendors, concessions, beer, wine, canned cocktails, and soft drinks will be available for purchase. Tables and chairs will be set up on the basketball court for dining before and during the show. No outside beverages are permitted and will be confiscated during security check. Empty water bottles will be permitted. Photo I.D. will be required for a wristband to purchase alcoholic beverages. You may bring food as long as it is not in glass containers.
