Rupa & the April Fishes is a delightful multi-cultural musical infusion.

Returning to the Osher Marin JCC for the fourth time, Rupa & the April Fishes are excited to bring a unique evening performance to our Summer Nights concert series. Collaborating with the Classical Revolution string quartet featuring the leadership of violinist Charith Premawardana, this show will showcase the band's vast compositional styles from delicate string quartet arrangements of love songs to high-energy socially activating ska tunes and everything in between.

Home after an incredible worldwide tour celebrating the release of their third and most realized studio album BUILD, the band will bring their stories and songs to one of their favorite outdoor stages for another summertime celebration with the North Bay community.

Rupa Marya leads the April Fishes as she sings in not only English but also in French, Spanish, Hindi and Roma. Forming the group with the intent of blending all forms of music, she has been exposed to wistful French chansons, dramatic Roma ballads, to the Mexican-American pop that is the Mission, along with politically minded lyrics of an internationalist mindset.

Rupa  Vocals, guitar
Aaron Kierbel  Drums, percussion
Jhno Eichenseer  Violin, duduk, keyboard
Mikhael Khalikulov  Cello
Mario Silva  Trumpet
Safa Shokrai  Upright bass
