Chana Scop, a longtime teacher of gourmet kosher cooking classes, will share the mitzvah of making challah and braiding techniques. You’ll take home challahs to share—just in time for Shabbat.


Get comfortable and confident cooking traditional Jewish dishes. Located in different kitchens across Marin County, each class serves hands-on cooking, some noshing, a pinch of Jewish learning, and cupfuls of laughter shared by a range of dynamic, experienced instructors. Need not be Jewish to join.

  • Mar 14: Passover Made Easy @ Congregation Kol Shofar, 215 Blackfield Dr., Tiburon, 94920. Not everyone who holds a seder grew up with Passover traditions. Dawn Kepler will share tasty Passover recipes, shortcuts and tips for engaging children and spouses of all ages in the holiday.


We are pleased to partner with Reboot's Beyond Bubbie project. Beyond Bubbie is an interactive community cookbook and a place to share the stories and memories connected to these recipes. You may be wondering: What is a Bubbie? Traditionally, a Bubbie (the Yiddish word for grandmother) is Jewish and of Eastern European origin. You know the type; endless supply of floral print housecoats, hot in the winter and cold in the summer, careful with her money, but generous with kisses and pinches of the cheek.  She is also a culinary dynamo, able to pluck chickens and roll matzo into magic balls. Beyond Bubbie embraces today’s eclectic multicultural world, and offers that a "Bubbie" could just as easily be a favorite uncle, beloved family friend or next door neighbor; their trademark recipes might be Moroccan cigars, Korean short ribs, or vegetarian couscous. What makes them a Bubbie in our book is the love they’ve poured into these dishes, and the memories you’ve created over them.

  • All class participants are invited to bring to class a favorite recipe or story from your "Bubbie" (or beloved relative or friend) to share with the group. We’ll upload the pics, stories and recipes gathered from each class to the project website.
  • If you don’t take the class, all are invited to visit the Beyond Bubbie website  upload a recipe, share your story and submit photos of your Bubbies, real and imagined.
