Il Borgo & “Coach vs. Teacher”
Wed, Mar. 1: 3:30-9:30pm
Board our private coach for a unique evening of dining, learning and music. Begin with an Italian dinner w/wine at Il Borgo, then go not only “behind-the-scenes” of opera, but actually “into the studio” with the Merola Opera Program’s special event – Coach vs. Teacher!
During this special evening about the separation between vocal coach and voice teacher, learn how singers prepare for a role. San Francisco Opera Center’s Director Sheri Greenawald, Director of Musical Studies Mark Morash and San Francisco Opera Adler Fellows illuminate the differences between vocal technique and musical coaching, and how they complement each other.
Merola Opera Program celebrates our 60th Anniversary in sparking the future of opera and serves as the cornerstone of San Francisco Opera’s training and performance progression for promising young artists. Each summer, young artists from the United States and around the world are brought to San Francisco for 12 weeks of intensive studies and performance opportunities under the guidance of renowned teachers and performers. Merola alums include opera superstars Joyce DiDonato, Patricia Racette, Susan Graham, Thomas Hampson, Leona Mitchell, Anna Netrebko, Rolando Villazón, Deborah Voigt, and Dolora Zajick among many others.
$75 – Includes dinner w/wine, special event ticket, round-trip transportation, tolls, parking, taxes & gratuities. Please Note: Since transportation is part of the JCC's Excursion Program, discounts are not available for un-used transfers.
