Friday Music & Morsels: Vocalist Kalil Wilson

Fri, February 9, 2018 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Friday Music & Morsels:
Vocalist Kalil Wilson

Start the weekend a few hours early; Come celebrate Friday with talk, treats & tunes!  Enter our lovely, light-filled atrium. Sit at an intimate 4-seat cabaret table, which allows new and long-time friends a chance to meet, relax and connect.  In the wonderful tradition of many European countries, enjoy an afternoon “dessert & coffee” (or tea)…with our compliments! Then, sit back and bask in a terrific program featuring the artistry of great musicians.  Each month will feature different musical and culinary treats.

Our inaugural event in February 2018 features Vocalist Kalil Wilson has become one of the most potent and promising vocalists of his generation. Gifted with a powerful, yet nuanced voice and with a technical versatility that positions him comfortably in jazz, R&B, pop, and classical, Wilson has earned high marks from the music press and has captivated audiences from Barcelona to Berkeley.  His bright re-imaginings of jazz standards and originals are well-informed by the rich history of great jazz singing while melding seamlessly with his heartfelt, eclectic stylings.

Wilson will be joined by pianist Steve Scholz whose credentials as a jazz composer and artist are grounded in his education and real world experience. A working professional since the age of 15, he holds his Masters degree in jazz piano performance from Florida State University (FSU). A sought after solo artist Wilson held residency at the famous Vitello’s Jazz & Super Club from 2013-2015 and has performed hundreds of private events for many notable clients, including for Stevie Wonder, William Shatner, Ben Vereen, Andy Garcia, Malcolm McDowell, and many more). Currently, he performs full-time as a solo pianist/keyboardist, sideman and band leader for various events, shows and gigs in the Western US.
